ISO 27566-1 Certification is the new international gold standard for age assurance systems. Developed through the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), it provides a comprehensive framework for assessing whether an age assurance service is safe, effective, privacy-preserving, and interoperable.

IEEE 2089.1 is the international standard for Online Age Verification. It provides a framework to design, specify, evaluate, and deploy age-verification systems — including solutions that verify age directly and those that estimate a user’s age or age range where proportionate and appropriate.

Age Estimation is a process carried out by an Age Check Provider or an Age Check Decision Maker to establish that a citizen is likely to fall within a category of ages, over a certain age or under a certain age to a specified level of confidence by reference to inherent features or behaviours related to that citizen.
